Faulk’s Classic Car Repair and the Speed Shop, Jason Floyd, participated in the Perry, Georgia, Auto Fair on Saturday, March 28th. We were honored to feature the “Billy the Kid” 1972 Dodge Demon Pro Stock dragster, courtesy of Detroit Garage, and C.L. Pritchett's late-model dirt-tract car at the Pharaohs Car Club of Perry, GA.

This Dodge Demon is the authentic “Billy the Kid” car, originally owned by William E. Stepp (also known as "Billy the Kid") and driven by Melvin Yow. It was powered by a de-stroked 426 HEMI engine, displacing 366 CID, similar to NASCAR specifications. Paul "Super crew" Frost built the engine, which produced 600-700 horsepower. The front crossmember, only 2.5 inches above the ground, gave the car an aggressive, "funny car-like" stance. The car is currently owned by McGrath Keen of Detroit Garage.

This is a 1978 restoration of C.L. Pritchett's late-model car. He drove it for Harley Hill. Barry Wright built the chassis. C.L. raced this car in 1978, winning the first NORA race in the Reed Cams 100 at Cherokee Speedway for $10,000, and was later inducted into the Cherokee Speedway Hall of Fame. Other drivers, including C.L., Doug Osteen, Fulmer Lance, David Pearson, Doug Davis, Stick Elliott, Kenneth Alewine, Benny Clontz, and Mike Duvall, also drove this car. Paul Purvis currently owns the car.

We were very excited to win "Best Mopar" at the Pharaohs Car Club of Perry, GA, and Perry Georgia Auto Fair.  FCCR would also like to thank McGrath Keen for allowing us to showcase this legendary piece of drag racing history.
